50 Cent  Bio

Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975) is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and investor better known by his stage name 50 Cent. Jackson was born in the New York City borough of Queens and raised in the South Jamaica neighbourhood by his mother, Sabrina. Sabrina, a drug dealer, raised Jackson until she died in a mysterious fire when Jackson was eight years old. Jackson was raised by his grandmother after his mother died. He started boxing when he was about 11 years old, and when he was 14, a neighbour opened a boxing gym for a local kid.

I used to be competitive in the ring, and hip-hop is no different… Rappers, I believe, condition themselves like boxers in order to feel like champions.” Jackson began dealing drugs at the age of 12 when his grandparents mistook him for a student in after-school programmes and brought guns and drug money to the school. He was caught by metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in the tenth grade:

I was embarrassed that I had been arrested in such a manner… I stopped hiding it after I was arrested. ‘I sell drugs,’ I told my grandmother openly.” 50 Cent in a mugshot from 1994 Jackson was arrested on June 29, 1994, for selling four vials of cocaine to an undercover police officer. Three weeks later, he was arrested again after police searched his home and discovered heroin, ten ounces of crack cocaine, and a starting pistol.

He has stated that he has never used cocaine. Jackson coined the moniker “50 Cent” to represent change. The name was inspired by Kelvin Martin, a well-known 1980s Brooklyn robber “50 Cent” who was chosen by Jackson because “it says everything I want it to say” I’m the same type of person as 50 Cent.

I support myself in any way I can.” 1996-1999: Beginnings of a Career Jackson began rapping in the basement of a friend, using turntables to record over instrumentals. A friend introduced him to Jam Master Jay of Run-D.M.C., who was the head of Jam Master Jay Records, in 1996. Jay showed him how to count bars, write choruses, structure songs, and record records.

Jackson’s first appearance was on Onyx’s 1998 album Shut ‘Em Down, on the song “React.” He credited Jay with helping him improve his ability to write hooks, and Jay produced Jackson’s first (unreleased) album. Following Jackson’s departure from Jam Master Jay in 1999, the platinum-selling producer’s Trackmasters signed him to Columbia Records.

They sent him to a studio in upstate New York, where he recorded thirty-six songs in two weeks, eighteen of which were included on his 2000 album, Power of the Dollar. After the successful but contentious underground single “How to Rob,” which he wrote in a half-hour car ride to a studio, Jackson’s popularity began to rise. The song describes how he would rob famous musicians in a humorous manner.

There are a hundred artists on that label, you gotta separate yourself from that group and make yourself relevant,” Jackson said of the song’s inspiration. Rappers Jay-Z, Kurupt, Sticky Fingaz, Big Pun, DMX, Wyclef Jean, and the Wu-Tang Clan all reacted positively to the song, and Nas invited Jackson to join him on his Nastradamus tour.

Although “How to Rob” was supposed to be released alongside “Thug Love,” featuring Destiny’s Child, Jackson was shot and hospitalised two days before filming the “Thug Love” music video.

Filming A gunman shot Jackson outside his grandmother’s former home in South Jamaica on May 24, 2000. He was asked to return to the house to get some jewellery after getting into a friend’s car. After Jackson returned to the back seat of the car, another car pulled up nearby, and an assailant walked up and fired nine close-range shots with a 9mm handgun.

Jackson received gunshot wounds to his hand, arm, hip, both legs, chest, and left cheek. His facial wound caused a swollen tongue, the loss of a wisdom tooth, and a slightly slurred voice, while his friend was injured in the hand. They were taken to the hospital, where Jackson stayed for thirteen days.

Darryl Baum, the alleged attacker, is a close friend and actor from New York City, New York. Jackson, who was born and raised in Queens’ South Jamaica neighbourhood, began selling drugs at the age of twelve during the 1980s crack epidemic. Despite leaving drug dealing in the late 1990s to pursue a musical career, he was involved in a near-fatal shooting in 2000.

Eminem discovered Jackson after he released the mixtape Guess Who’s Back? in 2002 and signed him to Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. Jackson became one of the world’s best-selling rappers with the help of Eminem and Aftermath founder Dr Dre after the release of his 2003 album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. He founded G-Unit Records the same year, signing G-Unit associates Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo. Jackson’s second album, The Massacre, received similar commercial and critical acclaim in 2005.

Animal Ambition, his fifth and most recent album, was released in 2014, and he is currently working on his sixth album, Street King Immortal. He executive produces and stars in the Starz television series Power. ding a Grammy Award, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and four BET Awards.

He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin’ in 2005, Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. Billboard magazine named 50 Cent the sixth-best artist of the 2000s. The magazine also named him the fourth-best male artist and the third-best rapper, trailing only Eminem and Nelly.

“It happens so fast that you don’t even get a chance to shoot back,” Jackson recalled of the shooting. I was terrified the whole time… I was looking in the rearview mirror, thinking, ‘Oh shit, somebody shot me in the face!and didn’t die, I started to think that I must have a purpose in life.

How much more damage could that shell have caused? Give me an inch in this direction or that, and I’m gone.” After six weeks of using a walker, Jackson was fully recovered after five months. When he got out of the hospital, he moved to the Poconos with his girlfriend and son, and his workout routine helped him develop a muscular physique. In the hospital, Jackson signed a publishing deal with Columbia Records before being dropped from the label and blacklisted by the recording industry due to his song “Ghetto Qu’ran.”

He relocated to Canada after being unable to work in a studio in the United States. Jackson recorded over thirty songs for mixtapes with business partner Sha Money XL in order to build a reputation. In a HitQuarters interview, Marc Labelle of Shady Records A&R stated that Jackson took advantage of the mixtape circuit: “He took all the hottest beats from every artist and flipped them with better hooks.”

They then got into all the markets on mixtapes, and all the mixtape DJs were messing with them.” Jackson’s popularity grew, and in 2002 he released the mixtape Guess Who’s Back? He then released 50 Cent Is the Future with G-Unit, a mixtape that revisited material by Jay-Z and Raphael Saadiq. From 2002 to 2006, he rose to prominence. In 2002, Eminem heard Jackson’s Guess Who’s Back? CD, which he received from Jackson’s attorney, who was working with Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg March 2005, Jackson’s second studio album.

The Massacre sold 1.14 million copies in its first four days (the highest in an abbreviated sales cycle) and remained at the top of the Billboard 200 for six weeks. to Rolling Stone, “50’s secret weapon is his singing voice – the deceptively amateur-sounding tenor croon that he deploys on almost every chorus.” Following The Game’s departure,

Jackson signed singer Olivia and duo Mobb Deep to G-Unit Records, with Spider Loc, M.O.P., 40 Glocc, and Young Hot Rod later joining the label before leaving. Curtis and Before I Self Destruct, 2007-2009 Curtis, Jackson’s third studio album, was released in September 2007 and was inspired by his life before getting Rich or Die Tryin’.

It debuted at on the Billboard 200 (behind Kanye West’s Graduation, which was released on the same day), selling 691,000 copies in its first week. On the 10 September 2008 episode of Total Request Live, Jackson announced that his fourth album would be “done and released in November.”

On May 19, 2009, he released “Ok, You’re Right,” which was produced by Dr. Dre. 2010-2011: New business ventures In an interview with Contactmusic.com, Jackson revealed that he was working on a Eurodance album, Black Magic, inspired by European nightclubs: ”

First, they played hip hop, which suddenly changed to uptempo songs, known as Eurodance.” When he returned home from The Invitation Tour in 2010, he said he changed his next album to The Return of the Heartless Monster after writing different material and shelving Black Magic. On September 3, Jackson joined Eminem and Jay-Z on their The Home & Home Tour, performing “Crack a Bottle” with Eminem .
