Virginia Gardner Bio

Virginia Elizabeth Gardner was born in New York City and reared in Los Angeles. She has two brothers and one sister (2018). Virginia Gardner’s full name is Virginia Elizabeth Gardner, and she was born in the city of Sacramento in the United States of America. She attended Sacramento Country Day School in Sacramento, California, where she was a student from kindergarten through eighth grade.

She was a part of a number of productions at her middle school, which she enjoyed. Gardner was directed by Brian Frishman, the dean of the theatre department, and was performed by students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. In 2011, she completed online schooling before deciding to sit for the California High School Proficiency Exam when she was eligible to do so. She moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and did online learning again.

She took the test in October 2011 and received her results the following month, which confirmed that she had passed. She was thrilled. Gardner attributes her interest in acting to the release of the Sean Penn picture I Am Sam in 2001, which she describes as “amazing.”

According to Gardner, “Dakota Fanning’s father has autism, and I have a brother who has autism, so I remember watching it as a young girl and relating to her role and being touched by it.” What motivated me to seek a career in this field was a desire to work in it and to produce things that can have an impact on people and that people can relate to. Neben her black belt in taekwondo, she has also taken up boxing and nunchucks training.

Gardner initially resided with her mother in order to dedicate her whole focus to her acting career full-time. The first year of Gardner’s adult life was spent living with her mother; however, as her profession progressed and she became more self-sufficient, she moved into her own apartment and continued to live on her own for the remainder of her life. Following her guest role on the Disney Channel series Lab Rats, she took a year off from acting to pursue a modeling career in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Her plans to give up acting were derailed when she became entirely engaged in the world of modeling. However, when she heard about the audition for Glee, she decided to give it another shot. Brands such as Kohl’s, Love Culture, HP, Hollister, Long & Foster, and Famous Footwear are among those for which she has posed. The gardener had a supporting role as Christina Raskin, the main character’s younger sister, in the science fiction thriller Project Almanac, which was shot entirely with found footage in 2015 and won an Academy Award.

As a result of the film, Gardner was able to establish herself as a leading actress in Hollywood. Her casting as Karolina Dean in the Hulu original series Marvel’s Runaways (2017) came shortly after the announcement of her engagement to actor Michael Douglas in February 2017. Because of her role of an LGBTQ hero in the film, she has garnered a significant deal of positive attention. Gardner has been cast in the upcoming horror thriller Halloween (2018), which is a sequel to the 1978 film of the same name.

Gardner will play Vicky in the film. Announcing Gardner’s casting was made public in January of this year. Having gone through a season of self-discovery and acceptance on Hulu’s Runaways, Karolina Dean became one of Marvel’s first openly gay superheroes. She was also one of the show’s key characters, as was her brother. As for Virginia Gardner, who portrays Dean, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of television history, which she embraced wholeheartedly. This is a massive undertaking, as she informs us.

“Nonetheless, I would like to see her grow as a person and continue to accept and enjoy her sexuality as she does now. It is vital to keep the conversation moving forward.” Gardner shares her feelings in this interview, which takes place just before the season finale of the show. One of the first things I was concerned about was whether or not people would be offended by the fact that I was playing a gay part as a straight man. I was apprehensive when I was offered the role because I didn’t want to disappoint my many followers on social media.

Nonetheless, because I have an autistic brother—and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I’ve never been offended by performers who do not have autism portraying someone who does because, to me, all representation is the same—I’ve never been offended by performers who do not have autism portraying someone who does because, to me, all representation is the same.

As long as you’re doing an accurate job, informing people, and sparking a conversation with them, I personally wouldn’t be offended. If some individuals are, then that is their prerogative, but I have done my best to bring the character to life to the greatest extent possible. Because I have a large number of LGBT friends, I spent a significant amount of time chatting with them about how I could properly portray the character’s voice.

I wanted to make certain that I finished my studies and understood the gravity of the duty that comes with portraying this character before moving forward with the role. Karolina possesses both superhuman and human characteristics at the same time. My interest in her sexual orientation was piqued because I want to [play] characters that I believe will be of use to others or who will generate a conversation with others.

Upon the first appearance, the characters in Runaways appear to be archetypal in their behavior. However, as you continue to watch, you’ll realize that they’re much more than they appear to be. When I was auditioning for the position, there was a moment in which I appeared to be flirting with a female teacher. Even though I tried to keep everything professional, the director advised that I “flirt a little bit” with the actress on the set. I was like, “Wait, what?” I was taken aback.

“Oh, that’s all right! In terms of his development, I can see where this guy is headed.” Throughout the course of the series, Karolina evolves from being a pious girl who only does what her mother tells her to do and dresses exclusively in pink and glitter to establishing her own identity and maturing into herself. The number of tweets from people expressing their wish that they had a character like this on television who could have assisted them in determining their sexual orientation has been overwhelming.

Speaking of figuring things out, the moment in which Karolina kissed Chase was one of my favorites since it illustrated how powerful a female can be in such a situation. Female characters on television and in the film are regularly rejected by their male counterparts, and they are eager for men’s admiration for the vast majority of the time. That kind of message to young girls, in my opinion, is highly detrimental, thus it was a pleasure to briefly put the ball in Karolina’s court. Immediately upon hearing no, she realized that this was not the intention of the conversation.

When the time came for Karolina and Nico to finally kiss one other, it was a moment that had been building for quite some time. We bombarded [co-creators] Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage with questions throughout the season, which Lyrica Okano (who plays Nico) and I did throughout the season “Is it possible that we’ll be able to kiss one another? Audience members are going to go crazy for this one! Let’s get this party started!” Our excitement level skyrocketed when we finally saw it in the screenplay for the very first time.

We continued saying the same thing over and over “There has been a tremendous development in this regard. Fan demand for this to occur has been growing for a long time due to the fact that the characters never interact in the comic books. At this very moment, we are undoubtedly making history.” The fact that Nico is still figuring out her sexuality does not diminish the significance of this event.

A crucial period of history has been marked by this event. While getting ready for one of the takes, I said to Lyrica, “Let’s go all out and make this fantastic!” she agreed. In any case, we didn’t want it to be overly pompous or overbearing in nature. The fact that it is concise and to the point lends a great deal of credibility to it. Right now, it’s just a really wonderful time of year. When we walked off the stage, the crew members’ eyes were filled with tears. What you saw there was something absolutely special.

In light of the fact that a huge number of comic books were created a long time ago, it’s unclear why it took so long for a gay character to be introduced into the Marvel universe. It has only been a very recent phenomenon for it to have grown so ubiquitous in our society. In this potentially game-changing discussion, and the success of our program, as well as the success of these characters, will only serve to stimulate the production of more superhero series in the future, For the younger generation, seeing themselves more accurately depicted on television is really important, and I’m delighted to be a part of a show that is accomplishing precisely that.
