She was born on 26 July 1964 to John Bullock, a ‘U.S. Army’ employee, and his German wife Helga Mathilde Meyer, who was a singer and vocal trainer, in Arlington, Virginia, USA. Bullock’s a mixed ancestor.She can therefore speak fluent German.

From the time she was five, she started playing little roles in her mother’s operas. She fell in love with performing arts and began to perform frequently with an opera for children.

She went to the high school ‘Washington Lee,’ where she was cheerleader. She took an active part in the scene plays of the school and graduated in 1982.

She studied acting at the ‘East Carolina University.’ She graduated in 1986 with a BA in Drama and moved to New York that same year in quest of acting gigs. She then attended acting training at the ‘Neighborhood Playhouse Theatre’ and she appeared in a number of student movies during her original days as an actress. She performed at ‘No Time Flat’ and was noticed by her performance, which resulted in possibilities to play film roles.

In her first appearance as a filmistress she starred as Lisa Edwards in the 1987 film Hangmen, about the murder of the US. The Senator and his follow-up.

She was featured in films including ‘Love Potion No. 9’ (1992), ‘The Thing Called Love’ (1993), and ‘Fire on the Amazon’ in the late 1980s and early 1990s (1993).

In 1996 she acted in the film adaptation for the novel ‘A Time to Kill’ by John Grisham. The film featured key roles by Kevin Spacey, Samuel Jackson and Oliver Platt. The narrative of a black dad who avenges his daughter’s rape with white perpetrators is followed by “A Time to Kill.”

In 1997 she took over Annie Porter’s role in ‘Speed 2: Cruise Control.’ The movie, a sequel to the film ‘Speed’ from 1994, was about a pair of holidays in a luxury cruise ship seized by the villain. It did not succeed like its predecessor.

She appears as Gracie Hart in the 2000 comedy picture ‘Miss Congeniality’ which, despite being a whole tomboy, her character, an FBI special agency, takes part in a beauty competition. The film was a business success. In the 2005 series of ‘Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous’ she took over her role as Hart. The picture was not as successful as its predecessor, though.

She was part of an ensemble cast of the 2004 crime movie “Crash.” The film dealt with racial tensions in California and was inspired by an actual carjacking event outside the video shop.

She has performed in various blockbuster movies such as ‘Two Weeks Notice’ (2002), ‘The Lake House’ (2006) and ‘The Proposal’ (2009).

In 2009, she played a key role in ‘The Blind Side,’ a semi-biographical sport drama about the life of Michael Oher, a young sportsman in a shattered, dysfunctional household. The film also tells about the adoption of Oher by a couple worried.
In 2013, she appeared in “The Heat,” a buddy police comedy film. She plays FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn, a team played by Melissa McCarthy, together with Boston Detective Shannon Mullins.
She gave her voice to “The Prime Ministers: The Pioneers” documentary film in 2013. She portrayed Scarlet Overkill in the 2015 film ‘Minions.’ In ‘Ocean’s 8,’ a spin off version of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ franchise, bullock starred as Debbie Ocean. The picture debuted with mixed reviews, but it was a business success.

Her next movie ‘Bird Box’ (2018) has earned international recognition and has received much compliments for her performance in which she played the part of a protective mother who saved her children from supernatural beings. The film, directed by Susanne Bier, was a post-apocalyptic thriller of horror.

Her film The Blind Side, which tells the storey of Michael Oher, an offensive liner who plays for the Baltimore Ravens’ NFL, is one of her greatest. Her Leigh Anne Tuohy performance was highly commended and received numerous accolades.
She was nominated for an academy award for her work in the science fiction thriller “Gravity.” She played a medical engineer on her first trip in space in the film, which was directed by Alfonso Cuarón.
