The likes of Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, who were among the first cinematic stars to split their time between film and television programs, appeared alongside her on the big screen. In an interview with CNET’s, I’m So Obsessed podcast, Tolman described how, even for someone like Thornton, working on a television program was still considered a step down in 2014.

“When Billy was doing interviews for Fargo, he stated that television was the place where cinema actors went to die. That was the implication of the stigma, and I believe we played a role in changing that perception.” Nowadays, it is not uncommon to watch well-known celebrities on television. Allison Tolman, star of the Netflix series “Why Women Kill,” confesses that there have been a few men in her life who she wouldn’t have minded killing. She portrays Alma, a frumpy housewife with an ambition of becoming a member of an exclusive garden club in the Paramount+ series. Tolman, 39, is the lead of the sitcom, which airs on Paramount+. Allison Tolman appears in the film “Why Women Kill.”

“Why Women Kill” is a documentary that follows three women who live in the same house at different times in history. Tolman described it as “a summery murder sorbet, it’s really tasty and light,” and jokes that she’s ready to become a gay icon as a result of her appearance on the show. I’m a big fan of the design. I’ve never had the opportunity to do this type of acting before.

The last time was when I was in musical theatre and sketch comedy. As a result, it feels like I’m relying on skills that I haven’t been able to demonstrate on screen yet. As a result, I’m having a great time.” When she was cast as Molly Solverson in the first season of “Fargo.”

Tolman experienced one of those “overnight success” moments that Hollywood loves to talk about. Not a single job that I’ve held over the course of the past seven years has not been linked to or was in some way affected by ‘Fargo,’ and in some cases, it was directly caused by ‘Fargo.'” Because my life had transformed in an instant,” she stated, “I mean, I couldn’t think of a better illustration of before and after than my own.”

Until then, she had auditioned for every job, including several advertisements in which she claimed to have perfected the art of biting into something while smiling. However, following “Fargo,” roles were offered to her without her having to go through the audition process again. “The idea that work could lead to other work without the steps in between that had become so familiar and tedious.

“It was like, so thrilling to think that you could skip that part and still get like little jobs here and there.” One of those parts will be in the upcoming television series “Gaslit,” which will star Julia Roberts and Sean Penn as the main characters. Tolman admits that she has a witchy feeling since she “truly, really wanted to be a member of a really prestigious, enormous ensemble cast,” which she says she has. And then this project came along, and it was almost as if I had yanked it out of my own head.”
