Amanda Leighton Bio

Amanda Leighton is an actress from the United States. Blossom from the 2016 Cartoon Network animated series The Powerpuff Girls, Poppy from the 2018 Netflix animated series Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and Avatar Blossom from the 2016 Cartoon Network animated series The Powerpuff Girls and Polly in the 2019 Disney Channel animated series Amphibia are some of her most well-known voice roles.

As Emma on the Freeform drama series The Fosters, she is also well-known. Leighton grew raised in the California city of Fresno. She received her high school diploma from Clovis West High School. On December 5, 2020, Leighton will tie the knot with professional mixed martial fighter Sage Northcutt.

Leighton began her acting career at the age of ten in her hometown, and she signed with her first agent at the age of twelve, when she began taking acting courses and attending auditions in Los Angeles, California, where she currently resides. Aside from that, she has 11 years of dance expertise, which she put to good use in the ABC Family television series Make It or Break It, in which she portrayed a gymnast named Wendy Capshaw.

Creator and executive producer Braly discusses the upcoming season, which will feature guest performers such as Whoopi Goldberg, RuPaul Charles, Wallace Shawn, and Wayne Knight, as well as his opinions on what makes Amphibia Amphibia in a lengthy conversation.

Braly begins by stating that, aside from working with only two Korean animation studios this season rather than three in prior seasons, the production pipeline for the script-driven, hand-drawn 2D program has remained the same throughout the season. However, the fact that we are no longer in Amphibia necessitated a significant amount of readjusting.

Due to the fact that they were in Los Angeles, Braly notes, “we had to perform more research and development for this season than we did for Season 2.” Can you describe what our Los Angeles looks like? What is the sensation like? “Because this is a new environment, the art directors had to find out exactly what it meant for our program,” says the producer.

Continuing, Braly explains that, far from being arbitrary, the decision to transfer the setting to Anne’s hometown was an organic aspect of Amphibia’s narrative trajectory. His emphasis is on the fact that “Anne has always been the star of the show.” The protagonist must confront their past, in my opinion, in a story like this – in this type of hero’s journey.”

As a result, it seemed unavoidable for me that she would have to return to Los Angeles at some point in order to confirm or analyze her relationship with her parents and the world in which she had grown up. Due to the fact that she is a very different person now, following two seasons in Amphibia, and she has been through a great deal.”

It goes without saying that the group of authors who have been with Braly since its inception are among those who understand Anne’s situation better than anybody else. More than half of the Amphibia staff is female, with many of them being Asian, which is unusual for a writers’ room.

Braly is personally delighted that everyone has remained with the show, and he points out that the writers’ dedication and loyalty have resulted in better consistency in the characters and the plot. A good example is an episode from Season 3 in which Anne and the frogs visit Wat Thai, which is a reproduction of an actual traditional Buddhist temple in Thailand, as explained by the author.

“We’ve been in Amphibia the whole time, but we’ve now arrived in Los Angeles, and we’re determined to do this culture proper justice.” Of course, Amphibia had to deal with the restrictions imposed by COVID, just like every other show that was produced over the previous year.

While Braly and his colleagues were undoubtedly affected by the restrictions on their ability to engage, they were able to find ways to adapt. As Braly points out, “the most noticeable absence was the kind of excitement and chemistry that you get from being in a large group of creatives, with 30 or 40 of us wandering around, bumping into each other, and exchanging ideas.”

“As a result, we made every effort to recreate those kinds of organic interactions.” People would draw amusing things on the screen during our storyboard pitches, for example, when everyone was required to remain silent. When working on Zoom, it’s more difficult to establish good chemistry; nonetheless, the writers were so dedicated to the subject that we were able to convey the greatest tale we possibly could.”

And, quite unexpectedly, the necessity of doing things differently resulted in Braly coming to an essential insight. The storyboards were one of the things he performed as showrunner, he explains. “As the showrunner, one of the things I always did was pitch them to the network.” In order to optimize our production process, COVID mandated that the board artists begin pitching for Season 3.

As a result, Season 3 began with the board artists doing the pitching for Season 3. And they were really fantastic. They were far superior to anything I could have been. And it really made me believe that they could have done it and that they would have done an excellent job if they had tried over the prior two years. As a result, it’s one of those wonderful examples of how, by letting go, you can occasionally produce a better product.”

When asked to summarise what, in the end, is the most distinguishing feature of Amphibia, Braly refers back to the concept of flow  As a result, for the first episode of Season 3, it was critical for us to take a step back and reset our expectations. In order for the humor in this first episode not to feel disrespectful to the events of the Season 2 finale, it had to be subtle.

“You have to give these jokes some breathing room,” he says at the end. This is similar to music in that it requires a certain pace and a certain flow of information. And I believe that, in 2021, we will be so thirsty for eyeballs that it will be quite tempting to simply bombard the viewer with a large amount of content in the hopes that it will draw them in. People will come to the table, I believe if the characters are compelling and the story is compelling.

And I believe that, in the end, the viewers will benefit the most from this.” —- Brenda Song (Dollface), a popular actress and longtime Disney Channel star, portrays Anne Boonchuy.

Also starring are Justin Felbinger (Disney Junior’s Miles From Tomorrowland) as Sprig Plantar, who forges a once-in-a-lifetime friendship with Anne; Amanda Leighton (This Is Us) as unpredictable pollywog (aka tadpole) Polly Plantar, the youngest member of the Plantar family; and Disney A Disney Television Animation production, the show is classified as TV-Y7 in terms of parental guidance.

Her other television credits include roles on Pretty Little Liars as Danielle, Grey’s Anatomy as patient Sarah Cassidy with Treacher Collins syndrome, 90210 as Alex Scarborough, Criminal Minds as Trish Leake, This is Us as teenage Sophie, The Fosters as Emma, and Six Feet Under, in which she played a singing Cactus Kid. Leighton was born in the United Kingdom and raised in the United States.

She has starred in commercials for a variety of companies, including Quicken Loans, Meow Mix, Comcast, and Plavix. Leighton has appeared in two films: Detour as Lara (a short film) and Divorce Invitation as Young Alex (a feature film) (2012). Affecting audiences worldwide since its June 2019 television premiere on Disney Channel, Matt Braly’s Amphibia, in which an ordinary girl finds herself transported to a world filled with frogs.

Sure, there are some outlandish characters and lots of amusing gags, but the humor is always grounded in people’s actions, and the show’s rhythm allows it to be more than just a series of bizarre mishaps.

In Amphibia’s third season, which premieres on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW on Saturday, Oct. 2, at (9:30 a.m. EDT), the tables are turned as heroine Anne Boonchuy and her adoptive frog family, the Plantars, find themselves in Los Angeles, where the walking, talking frogs must conceal their identities while searching for a way home. That’s after they’ve met Anne’s real family, who are, shall we say, perplexed by what they’ve learned about her.
