Anahi Bio

Anah Giovanna Puente was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on May 14, 1983, to Enrique Puente, a Spaniard, and Tysha Portilla, a Mexican. Marcelo Puente (born 1978), her older sister, and Diana Puente, her older half-sister from her father’s previous marriage. Anah battled anorexia throughout the filming of Primer Amor. At her heaviest, she weighed roughly 75 pounds (34 kg).

She stayed in five different treatment facilities and saw doctors and psychologists throughout the country. She began to feel faint one day after returning from a family trip and was transported to the hospital, where her heart stopped for eight seconds. She has subsequently healed and has become an outspoken advocate for eating disorders awareness in Mexico.

Anah initiated a campaign against anorexia and bulimia in 2008 with the cooperation of Televisa. In 2006, the Mexican tax agency blocked four of Anah’s bank accounts as a precautionary measure while she was being investigated for tax evasion. Anah was granted her accounts back in 2008, two with Banamex and two with Scotiabank, following a judicial battle.

In 2007, a Barbie doll modeled on Anah, Dulce Maria, and Maite Perroni was created. In 2010, People en Espaol named her one of the “50 Most Beautiful” women in the world. On March 11, 2011, physicians discovered that Anah’s brain was deficient in oxygen as a result of a deviated septum. This was determined to be the primary cause of several of Anah’s problems, including a heart attack.

She received a procedure that was successful. Anah was appointed spokesman for Snickers in Latin America on March 23, 2011. The advertising campaign provoked outrage, with the National Council to Prevent Discrimination and the National Institute of Women filing complaints alleging that the commercial was sexist. Anah defended the campaign, claiming that it was not meant to harm anyone.

Effem Mexico, the business that owns Snickers, refuted the sexism allegations. However, prior to the advertisement’s airing, they surveyed women to gauge their reaction to the material. Effem reports that the majority of women surveyed did not believe the commercial was discriminatory. Anah was on stage during the Mi Delirio World Tour (2010).

On September 18, 2011, National Geographic aired the original production of “Obsession: Bodies That Scream,” which was shot in Latin America and featured testimonies from individuals who struggle with body dysmorphia and eating disorders. Anah discussed her five-year battle with anorexia and her subsequent recovery.

Anah became a Global Ambassador for the Non-Violence Project’s “Imagine One Billion Faces For Peace” campaign on October 12, 2011. Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, and Ringo Starr are among the campaign’s ambassadors. The initiative attempts to memorialize the late John Lennon’s legacy by advocating for global peace and nonviolence.

Anah, along with other Global Ambassadors, performed at a Yoko Ono-hosted event for The Non-Violence Project during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Maxim ranked her one of the 2012 Maxim Hot 100, describing her as a “Mexican beauty” who is “a true triple threat: she sings, acts, and tweets hilariously.” On July 16, 2013, Anah launched a nail polish range called “BE by Anah.”

The range features 25 distinct shades, each with a name inspired by her songs, such as “Rebelde”, “delirio”, “absurda”, “click”, “hipnótico”, and “Sálvame”. Anah began dating Chiapas Governor Manuel Velasco Coello in April 2012. They became engaged in October 2014[60] and married in a private religious ceremony in San Cristóbal de las Casas on April 25, 2015.

They have two sons: Manuel, born in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas on January 17, 2017, and Emiliano, born in Mexico City on February 2, 2020. Anah began her career as a host on the Mexican television show Chiquilladas. She was two years old at the time. She then appeared in a number of films, including Nacidos para Morir and Haba Una Vez Una Estrella, for which she won the 1989 Ariel Award for Best Child Actress.

She then starred in a number of telenovelas, including Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real, Hora Marcada, Vivo por Elena, La Telaraa, and Daniela’s Diary. Anah was cast in 2001’s Primer Amor opposite Kuno Becker, Ana Layevska, and Mauricio Islas as fourteen-year-old Jovanna Luna. Throughout its tenure, the teen-oriented soap opera was one of the highest-rated in its time slot.

She was cast as Jessica in Clase 406 in 2002, with Alfonso Herrera, Dulce Mara, and Christian Chávez, who would later form RBD. In 2004, she starred in Rebelde, a Mexican adaptation of the popular Argentine series Rebelde Way. Prior to Rebelde, Anah co-starred in ngeles Sin Paraso with Felipe Colombo, the original Rebelde Way’s star. Anah portrays Mia Colucci on Rebelde, a popular girl from an affluent household. Rebelde was a global phenomenon that aired over 440 episodes between 2004 and 2006.

Following the success of Rebelde, Televisa produced RBD: La family in 2007. The film starred members of RBD. The sitcom was based on the members of RBD’s fictional life. The sitcom’s characters were not based on the band’s personas in Rebelde, but rather on the actors’ true characteristics. RBD: La Familia was Mexico’s first show to be shot fully on high-definition television.

The show aired from March 14 to June 13, 2007, and consisted of 13 episodes. Anah was chosen to play the lead character in Dos Hogares, a telenovela written and produced by Emilio Larrosa, in February 2011, four years after her last television performance. Anah accepted the post following protracted talks. Beginning on April 25, 2011, and concluding on January 14, 2012, filming began.

The television series premiered on June 27, 2011, and concluded on January 20, 2012. Anah, her debut album, was released in 1993 when she was ten years old. Later that year, she released her sophomore album, Hoy Es Maana?, which included the hits “Corazón de Bombón,” “Por Volverte a Ver,” and “Descontrolándote.” She then released two more albums, Anclado En Mi Corazón and Baby Blue. RBD was launched as a result of Rebelde’s popularity. RBD released nine studio albums, spanning Spanish, Portuguese, and English-language releases.

They have sold over 20 million albums and 17 million digital downloads globally and have traveled extensively throughout South America, North America, Central America, and Europe. Anah re-released her solo album, Baby Blue, under the name Una Rebelde en Solitario in 2006, following the success of RBD. The next year, a compilation CD titled Antes de Ser Rebelde was published.

On August 15, 2008, RBD released a statement announcing their breakup. They completed one more tour, the Gira del Adiós World Tour, in late 2008. Anahi and Dulce Mara worked with Tiziano Ferro on the song “El Regalo Más Grande” in November 2008. Anah developed an official website and Twitter account in April 2009 to promote her first solo album since RBD’s separation. At the 2009 Premios Juventud in Miami, Florida, she presented her first solo single since RBD, “Mi Delirio.”

On August 18, 2009, it was made available for digital download. On November 24, 2009, Mi Delirio was released. Anah became the second Mexican musician — after Thala — to have her album rated Gold in Brazil with this release. There are three known versions of the song: the album version with Anah alone; a Portuguese version with Brazilian singer Renee Fernandes, which was included in the Mi Delirio – deluxe edition (Brazilian edition bonus track); and a duet version with Noel Schajris, which was included in the Mi Delirio – deluxe edition (Dutch edition bonus track) (Colombian edition bonus track). (In the United States, this version is available as a limited edition, Alérgico (Fan edition) – EP.)

The single was made available for digital download on February 4, 2013. A new album with a 2013 release date was announced but was later canceled. On May 25, 2015, Anah released a song titled “Están Ah” with no prior marketing. The words of the song are a tribute to her admirers. A month later, she made her return to music with the release of “Rumba,” a collaboration with Puerto Rican rapper Wisin.
