After teaming up with Cristina Rus, she became known as Blondy.  After that, she embarked on a solo career, racking up accolades at events like the MTV Europe Music Awards and the Balkan Music Awards in addition to the Romanian Music Awards and Romanian Top Hits. In Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia, her songs “Love in Brazil” and “Sexy” topped the charts. At the Mamaia Festival in 1998, she initially gained widespread recognition. Exotic was founded by her and two other women, Claudia Pătrăşcanu and Julia Chelaru.

During their brief two-year run, the group issued three singles and two albums. After quitting Exotic, Bănică embarked on a solo career. She and Rus started the band Blondy in 2001.
