Benjamin Solomon Carson Sr. is a retired neurosurgeon and politician from the United States. He was the 17th Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for the United States of America, a position he held from 2017 until 2021. Carson was born on September 18, 1951. He was a trailblazer in the field of neurosurgery, and he ran for the Republican nomination for president of the United States in the primaries that took place in 2016. In 1984, when Carson was just 33 years old, he became the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States when he was appointed to the position of director of pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
