The Cyclops depicted a man who was transformed into a one-eyed monster by atomic radiation, and The Amazing Colossal Man, produced for American International, explored similar themes and was a huge success. Gordon’s next film, Attack of the Puppet People, is about a scientist who shrinks people to doll size, while The Spider (aka Earth vs. the Spider) is about a giant spider attacking a small town.

He directed War of the Colossal Beast in 1958, which was the only direct sequel to one of his films. During the 1960s, Gordon experimented with different types of fantasy films, including fantasy (The Magic Sword) and the supernatural (Tormented). He returned to a giantism story for Village of the Giants, which featured juvenile delinquents who grew to enormous proportions, as well as rock & roll music and other elements of the time’s youth culture.

During the 1970s, he directed Food of the Gods and Empire of the Ants, both of which were loosely based on works by H.G. Wells and dealt with giantism and featured typical Bert I.
