American stock car racing veteran and current Fox Sports commentator Robert Allen Labonte was born on May 8, 1964. He also drives the No. 18 vehicle in the Superstar Racing Experience, where he competes full-time. In 2000, Labonte won the NASCAR Cup Series. Only two other sets of brothers, including him and his elder brother Terry Labonte, can claim to have won a Cup title (along with Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch). Justin Labonte, a former Xfinity Series race winner, is his nephew.

Labonte is the only driver in the history of either series to win the Winston Cup (2000) and the Busch Series (1991) in their respective contemporary touring formats. In 2001, Bobby also took home the IROC crown. Labonte is also the only driver to win races in all three of NASCAR’s major series at the same circuit, having done so at Martinsville. On May 8th, 1964, little Labonte entered this world in Corpus Christi, Texas. He started racing quarter midgets in 1969 in Texas, where he eventually became a champion. He raced quarter-midgets around the country and won many events between then and 1977. After his elder brother Terry made it to the Winston Cup Series in 1978, he relocated to North Carolina with his family and began racing go-karts.
