Bruce Armstrong, a retired American football player, played offensive linemen for the New England Patriots for a total of 14 seasons in the NFL. At the University of Louisville, where he played for four years on the varsity football team and was honored as the “Most Outstanding Lineman” in his senior year, he was picked in the first round of the 1987 draught. In 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997, he was selected to participate in the Pro Bowl. Only Hall of Famer John Hannah and current Patriots starter Jon Morris have appeared in more Pro Bowls than Morris has for New England.

Only seven players have ever had their number retired by the Patriots; Armstrong is one of only 29 to have made it into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Before 2015, no other Patriot had started more games than Armstrong’s 212. After ripping the medial collateral ligament and the anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments in his right knee during a game against the Buffalo Bills in November of 1992, the only games he missed were in the second half of the season. It was expected that Armstrong’s injury might terminate his career, but he made a full recovery and returned the next year. Together with his wife, Melinda Yvette, Armstrong has opened a salon in Alpharetta. The couple is the parents of Candace and Nicholas.
