Born on August 21, 1980, Burney Lamar competes in stock car racing in the United States. He is a NASCAR veteran, having competed in the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series. Lamar started racing go-karts at the tender age of five, and he eventually amassed a total of 25 track championships and three International Karting Federation Regional Championships. Lamar began racing stock cars at the Stockton 99 Speedway when he was 16 years old and ultimately placed twelfth in points. Over the course of the following three years, he competed on a variety of West Coast short tracks and ultimately took home the Shell Oil Tri-Track title.

Lamar first competed in the USAC Western States Sprint Car Series in the year 2000. He had seven top-five finishes, good enough for third place in the points standings and hence Rookie of the Year. He entered the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series the following year and quickly became the series’ most promising newcomer. The next year, 2002, he would go on to win two races and place second in points. In 2005, Lamar joined with Kevin Harvick Incorporated to compete in a small number of NASCAR Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series events. Lamar won the Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway that season in addition to his two West Series triumphs.
