On July 27, 1957, in Galveston, Texas, Charles Alexander entered the world. At LSU, Alexander starred at tailback, also known as running back, where he was twice named to the All-American team. In both 1977 and 1978, he was named to the All-American and All-Southeastern Conference first teams. He was named the Southeastern Conference’s MVP that year (1977). During his undergraduate career, he established 27 new LSU records and 9 new SEC marks. Records for most rushing yards in a season (1,686), most rushing touchdowns in a season (five), and most rushing touchdowns in a game (four) all belong to him (153.3).

In the 1977 Sun Bowl, Alexander was named Offensive Player of the Game after breaking two running records and totaling 197 yards on 31 carries. Alexander entered the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame the same year (1989). The Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the first round of the 1979 draught, and he spent seven years there. During that time, the Bengals won the AFC championship in 1981 and advanced to Super Bowl XVI in Pontiac, Michigan. By the end of his professional career, Alexander had rushed for 2,645, caught 165 passes for 1,130 yards, and scored 15 times. In 2012, Charles received the honor of entering the College Football Hall of Fame. The interview with Alexander may be found at the T.
