Racing driver Daniel de Jong of the Netherlands was born on July 9, 1992. De Jong made his single-seater debut in the 2008 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC), ending the season in 13th place after a lengthy karting career in his home country of Holland and a brief spell in the Dutch Winter Endurance Series. He also participated two races in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEZ series, scoring two pole positions and a race victory to complete the season in 8th place, and a single round of the Formula Renault 2.0 West European Cup at Spa–Francorchamps.
In 2009, de Jong raced with MP Motorsport in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC competitions.
