Born on January 17, 1953, in New Rochelle, New York, Dick Ambrose is a retired American football linebacker who spent nine seasons (1975–1983) with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. He earned the nick moniker “Bam-Bam” during his playing days, in homage to the cartoon character of the same name from The Flintstones.
Since 2004, Ambrose has served as a judge on the Common Pleas Court for Cuyahoga County. He presided over the trial of Cleveland serial murderer Anthony Sowell, who was convicted guilty on all 82 counts. Ambrose imposed the death penalty on Sowell on August 12, 2011.
When playing linebacker, Dick Ambrose often had to use his strength to overcome the offensive players. As for Ambrose’s schooling, he earned a BS in the field from UVA. While playing for the Cleveland Browns, he enrolled in law school and earned a magna cum laude degree from Cleveland-Marshall in 1987. When he finished school at Cleveland-Marshall, he started working for McDonald Hopkins. In addition to Chriszt McGarry Co., he has also worked with Nicola Gudbranson and Cooper.
