Dorothy Elliot Allison (born August 17, 1969, in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Scottish singer and composer best known for her work in electronic music during the early ’90s when she was the lead vocalist of the band One Dove. She now resides in Edinburgh with her husband, Christian Henson, a film composer. The majority of Allison’s career has been spent in collaboration with artists including Scott Walker, Massive Attack, Paul Weller, Hal David, Arab Strap, Mick Harvey, Pascal Gabriel, Kevin Shields, Pete Doherty, Xenomania, and Gary Mounfield, with whom she has also worked on solo projects.

She got her start in the industry as a member of the Scottish proto-indie-dance act One Dove, and in 1999 she published her first album, Afterglow, to mostly favorable reviews. We Are Science (2002), influenced by electro and dance music, came after it and was more of a song-oriented pop excursion. Her book, “Exaltation of Larks,” was out in 2007.
