American comedian, songwriter, and performer Heywood Banks are well known for his funny songs. Back in the ’70s and ’80s, Mitchell used to perform stand-up comedy and guitar under his own name. After a trip to Los Angeles in 1987, when they saw many other comedians performing similar things to him, his wife recommended he create a few personas. It was in 1987 that he began appearing as Heywood Banks, a persona he had created.After competing in and winning the 1988 Johnnie Walker Comedy Search national finals, he was invited to participate in the October 19, 1988, episode of A&E’s An Evening at the Improv.
