Known as “The Flying Finn,” Mika Pauli Häkkinen (born September 28, 1968) is a retired Finnish racing driver. He raced for McLaren in Formula One and won the world championship in 1998 and 1999. Only three Finnish Formula One drivers have ever won the World Drivers’ Championship, and Häkkinen is the only one to win it more than once. He is presently a brand ambassador for many brands and works in driver management. At the tender age of five, Häkkinen started his illustrious karting career, which he would go on to crown with regional and national titles. In the latter stages of his career, he moved on to motor racing, competing in the Formula Ford and Formula Three championships in Italy and the United Kingdom. To continue his racing career, Häkkinen moved up to Formula One in 1991 and drove for Team Lotus until 1992.

After four years of mediocre results in Formula One, Häkkinen finally won a race in 1997. By the conclusion of the 1998 season, he had won eight times for McLaren and had clinched the World Drivers’ Championship in the Japanese Grand Prix. In 1999, he won five times in the World Championships, a feat he duplicated from 1998. In 2000, he came in second in the Drivers’ Championship behind Michael Schumacher. He won two more races in 2001 before declaring his retirement from racing for good in the middle of 2002.
