In 2009, while racing for the Brawn GP team, he won the Formula One World Championship. After retiring from Formula One, he continued his racing career with Team Kunimitsu, driving a Honda in the Super GT Series and winning the 2018 championship with teammate Naoki Yamamoto. At the young age of eight, Button started his racing career in karts, quickly rising to the top, before transitioning to the British Formula Ford Championship and the British Formula 3 Championship.

His Formula One debut came in 2000 when he raced for Williams. In 2002, he joined the Renault team after previously racing for Benetton, and in 2003, he made the jump to BAR. Soon after, BAR was rebranded as the Honda team for the 2006 season, and it was then that Button finally won his first Grand Prix, in Hungary.

From 2011 to 2012, Button oversaw operations at Victus, a Harrogate eatery. He, Goodard, and James Williamson, a public relations officer, established The Sports Partnership in 2012 to serve as a management and public relations firm for the sports business. Late in 2018, Jenson Team Rocket RJN was created by Button, Buncombe, and team principal Bob Neville to compete in the Formula One and World Rally Championships. Since the 2018 British Grand Prix, he has analysed select races for Sky Sports F1, and in 2003, he was on the judging panel for the UK F1 Drivers’ Challenge, which was televised on the Five television programme Be A Grand Prix Driver.
