Professional stock car racer Jeremy Wayne Clements (born January 16, 1985) hails from the United States. He’s the kid of Clements Racing Engines’ Tony Clements, the man behind the family business. Currently, he races the No. 51 Chevrolet Camaro for Jeremy Clements Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Clements, a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, got his start in racing at the tender age of eight, behind the wheel of a go-kart. The next year, 1999, he began competing in the Modified and Stock Series races for four-cylinder cars at Thunder Valley Speedway and Cherokee Speedway. He went on to win 55 feature events and two track championships over the next three years.
Moving up to the Late Model division in 2002, Clements promptly won the championship and nine individual races. At Talladega Superspeedway, he also made his ARCA Series debut, starting sixth and finishing seventeenth in the No. 3 Chevrolet. During 2003, he competed in five ARCA events, finishing in the top ten three times. Clements, then 19 years old, was hurt badly on July 24, 2004, while racing at North Carolina’s 311 Speedway. As he was driving his late model car, the driveshaft snapped and sliced through the car, wounding his right hand. At once, he was whisked away to the operating rooms at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he underwent a nine-hour orthopedic procedure. Clements had 10 operations over the course of the next year, including a skin graft in which his hand was sewn to his right hip, bone grafts from his hip, and tendons harvested from his right foot. He waited until the next year before entering another race.
