American musician and game show presenter Jon “Bowzer” Bauman (born September 14, 1947) is a member of the band Sha Na Na. Bauman’s “Bowzer” in Sha Na Na was a muscle-shirted greaser. Brooklyn, New York, is the place of Bauman’s birth. He attended Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village, New York, and then The Juilliard School to hone his piano playing skills, graduating in 1964. Next, he enrolled at Columbia University, where he would graduate in 1968. Between 1970 and 1983, Bauman was a member of the band Sha Na Na member. From 1977 until 1981, he was a television regular on the Sha Na Na comedy/variety program.
