A native of Akron, Ohio, Joseph Arthur was born on September 28, 1971, and has been active in the American music scene ever since. His solo work and that of his band’s Fistful of Mercy and RNDM have brought him the most attention. Over the years, Arthur has built his reputation through critically acclaimed albums and relentless touring; his distinctive solo live performances frequently include the use of multiple distortions and loop pedals, and his shows are recorded live at the soundboard and made available to concertgoers on recordable media shortly after the show ends. In the mid-1990s, Peter Gabriel found Arthur and signed him to his Real World record company. He was the firm’s first North American artist.
