Joy Behar  is an American comedian, television personality, actor, and author. She is the lone original panelist still routinely appearing on the ABC daytime talk programme The View, which she co-hosts. She hosted Joy Behar: Say Anything! on Current TV from 2012 until the channel’s format change in August 2013 and The Joy Behar Show on HLN from 2009 to 2011. Late Night Joy, Behar’s most recent weekly late-night chat programme, debuted on TLC in 2015. The Great Gasbag: An A-Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World is another book by her.

Behar was the lone child of an Italian-American Roman Catholic family when she was born Josephine Victoria Occhiuto in 1942 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her father, Gino Occhiuto, drove trucks for Coca-Cola, and her mother, Rose, was a seamstress.  Behar graduated from Queens College with a BA in sociology in 1964 and Stony Brook University with an MA in English instruction in 1966. She was an English teacher on Long Island at Lindenhurst Senior High School in Lindenhurst, New York, from the late 1960s until the early 1970s.  She attended the HB Studio to study acting.
