U.S. judge and TV host Judy Sheindlin is well-known for her role as the host of the popular talk show Judge Judy (1996–2021). During the year (1963), Blum attended American University in Washington, DC, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. A graduate of New York Law School in 1965, she was the only female member of her class. That same year, she was admitted to the bar. Already married, she first worked in private practice before leaving to focus on her family. She married Gerald Sheindlin, a fellow lawyer and future justice on the New York State Supreme Court, in 1977 after her first marriage ended in divorce.
In 1972, Sheindlin became an assistant district attorney in New York City’s family court. After Ed Koch, then mayor of New York City, saw how she handled her cases with frankness and candor, he assigned her to the Bronx family court in 1982. In spite of the overwhelming volume of cases, she quickly earned a reputation for fairness and efficiency in the courtroom. In 1986, Sheindlin was elevated to the role of supervising judge in the Manhattan branch of the family court, a position she occupied for the subsequent decade.
