Kevin Dowling is a film and TV director and producer from the United States. Kevin has participated in more than 60 projects over his career. As the son of Dr. John J. Dowling, chairman of orthopaedic surgery at the Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, and a clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, and Lynn Dowling, Kevin Dowling grew up in the Philadelphia suburb of Gladwyne. He got his education at both Ohio’s Oberlin College and New York City’s New York University. The couple tied the knot on May 9, 1987, and Dowling’s new husband was 60 Minutes producer and writer Marley Klaus.

Dowling co-founded The Actor’s Ensemble and served as its creative director for eight years. He oversaw the production of over 20 plays during this period, including the New York premiere of Dan Lauria’s “Game Plan,” his own “A Child’s Piece,” and revivals of plays by Harold Pinter and Sam Shepard. Afterwards, he oversaw the production of Mr. Shepard’s critically acclaimed comedy True West, which played for two years at the Cherry Lane Theatre and starred John Malkovich, Gary Sinise, James Belushi, Gary Cole, Randy Quaid, and Dennis Quaid. From 1982 until 1995, he oversaw the artistic direction of the Cherry Lane Theatre.
