Swedish racing driver Mattias Ekström was born on July 14, 1978, in Falun. He has raced for Audi in the FIA World Rallycross Championship from its introduction in 2014 and in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since 2001. He has won the FIA World Rallycross Championship three times, the DTM championship twice, and the Race of Champions a total of six times. In 1993, Ekström made her karting debut. He continued to race in the Renault 5 Turbo Cup for the following years, eventually taking the title in 1996.
