The American television broadcaster Maurice Povich is named after the program he created and hosted for many years: the tabloid talk show Maury. Povich’s first employment after college was at the Washington, D.C. radio station WWDC, where he worked in the public relations and news departments. It was 1966, and he was working as a news reporter and sportscaster for WTTG-TV in Washington, DC. In 1967, he joined the channel as one of the first hosts of the noon chat program Panorama, which catapulted him to stardom and earned him global accolades.
