Born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic on August 20, 1974, Dmitri “Misha” Collins is an American actor best known for playing the angel Castiel on the CW television series Supernatural. Misha Collins was born to Rebecca Tippens and Richard Krushnic in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in a nonreligious household.  His family was destitute and sometimes homeless when he was a child.  According to him, the origin of his last name, Krushnic, is unknown and dates back six generations in Canada.
