Swiss professional Porsche factory driver Neel Jani was born on 8 December 1983. His Indian father and Swiss-German mother have given him a diverse cultural background. After competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for Porsche’s LMP1 program during the 2014 season, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. Previously, Jani raced in the A1 Grand Prix for A1 Team Switzerland, where he helped the team win the championship in 2007–2008 and place second in 2005–2006 and 2008–2009. In 2007, he competed for PKV Racing in the Champ Car series in North America.
He has tested for Formula One and won races in the GP2 Series. His tenure with the Faraday Future Dragon Racing Formula E team lasted all of one weekend before he was gone. He raced for Porsche again in Formula E with Andre Lotterer in 2019–20. A native of Rorschach, Jani spent his first two years of racing in karts before graduating to the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup in 2001. He also competed in several Italian Formula Renault races that year. In 2002, he continued to do both, albeit he participated in fewer races in the Italian Formula Renault series.
