Robert Michael Doornbos born 23 September 1981 is a Dutch former racing driver who also competed with a Monégasque licence. His Formula One experience includes stints as a test and third driver for Jordan and Red Bull Racing as well as 2005 and 2006 stints with Minardi and Red Bull Racing. Doornbos later drove for Minardi Team USA in the 2007 and last season of the Champ Car World Series. In 2008, he raced in the Superleague Formula series, and the following year, he drove for the Netherlands squad in the A1 Grand Prix. Doornbos was an IndyCar driver in 2009. After the Kentucky Speedway race, he made the transition from Newman Lanigan Racing to HVM.

In 2000, he competed in the Formula Ford Zetec Benelux series, placing second in the Belgian title and sixth overall with one pole, three fastest laps and six podiums.
