Robert Józef Kubica is a Polish race car racer and rally driver. He was born on December 7th, 1984. As of the year 2023, he is the only Polish racing driver who has ever competed in Formula One. He was the first Polish driver to ever do so. He was promoted from test driver to race driver throughout the course of his time with the BMW Sauber F1 team, which lasted from 2006 to 2009. At the Canadian Grand Prix in June of 2008, Kubica won the Formula One race for the first and only time in his career. During that season, he had the lead in the championship at one point before concluding the year in fourth place overall, which was his best result ever. In 2010, Kubica raced for Renault, and the plan was for him to continue driving for the team in 2011.

Several years later, Kubica stated that he had signed a pre-contract to drive for Ferrari in the 2012 season. This move, however, was ultimately scrapped due to the catastrophic rally accident that Kubica endured in early 2011. At the Ronde di Andora rally on February 6, 2011, Kubica was involved in a collision that left him with significant injuries, including the partial severing of his right forearm. He was participating in order to improve his abilities.
Of a bedside interview with the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kubica said that he could feel the fingers in his right hand and that he was resolute to make a speedy comeback to Formula One in 2011.
