Samantha Jane Barks, born on the Isle of Man on October 2, 1990, is a singer and actress who gained prominence after finishing third in the 2008 season of the BBC talent show-themed television series I’d Do Anything. She made her cinematic debut as Éponine in Tom Hooper’s 2012 adaptation of Les Misérables and has since recorded three studio albums: Looking in Your Eyes (2007), Samantha Barks (2016), and Into the Unknown (2021). She earned the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer and a National Board of Review Award given to the whole ensemble for their efforts. Barks has been in several musicals and comedies with Jonathan Bailey, including the 2012–2013 Disney Channel series Groove High and the 2016 London production of The Last Five Years.
