Italian race car racer Stefano D’Aste was born on February 26, 1974, in Genoa. He started off racing motorbikes and even participated in the Monza International Rally. Since 2004 to 2013, he has raced in the World Touring Car Championship. As a member of Proteam Motorsport, D’Aste drove a BMW 320i in 2005. He finished third in the Independents’ Trophy, with a best finish of second in the second race at Spa-Francorchamps. He raced for Proteam again in 2006, and he placed third in the Independents’ Trophy, good for tenth place overall.

In 2007, D’Aste switched teams to the Wiechers-Sport outfit, and his BMW 320si helped him win the Yokohama World Independents Trophy. Once again, his best overall result was tenth.
