John V. Bevan Olyphant, a former vice president of production at the Gallo Winery, and his wife Katherine welcomed their son Timothy into the world on the 20th of May in the city of Honolulu, Hawaii. Tim moved with his brother Andrew and younger brother Matthew to Modesto, California, when his parents divorced when he was two years old. He spent the rest of his childhood there with them.
