Thomas Ridgeway Dey is a well-known American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born on April 14, 1965 in the United States. Showtime, Shanghai Noon, Failure to Launch, and Marmaduke are among the films that he has worked on. Phoebe Ann (née Evans) and Charles Frederick Dey, the latter of whom served as Associate Dean at Dartmouth College from 1963 to 1973 and as headmaster at Choate Rosemary Hall, gave birth to Dey in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dey is the son of his parents.

He received his education at The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut (now known as Choate Rosemary Hall), Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California.
