GA native TOMMY ALLEGOOD grew up in the Peach State. Tommy attended Gordon Military College from 1970 to 1972, where he was a cadet in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and then earned a degree from the University of Georgia. After earning his degree, Tommy started a managerial position with Lowe’s Companies, which has kept him immersed in the construction industry. Due to his leadership abilities, he has been able to rally a group of individuals to work together towards a common goal.
In 2000, Tommy won a seat on the Acworth city council, and four years later, he was elected mayor. The city’s population has increased to 24,000 during his unchallenged five terms as mayor. Tommy’s “Quality of Life” campaign, launched in his first weeks as mayor, is largely responsible for Acworth’s rapid residential and commercial expansion, making it the fastest-growing city in Cobb County.
Tommy attends NorthStar Church, is a member of the Acworth Business Association and the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Northwest, is a PTA Partner at McCall Primary and Acworth Elementary, a Partner in Education at Barber Middle School and North Cobb High School, is on the Advisory Board for the Calvary Children’s Home, and is on the President’s Advisory Council at Kennesaw State University.
