A year ago, in December, I underwent testing for the disease. Wow, such a crazy ride. Ted, Kyla [Kenedy], and Mike were all present. Everyone had already been cast. It was a very unusual occurrence. It’s all quite strange. As a coping mechanism, I’ve had to tell myself, “This is just a get-together with friends, and there’s no pressure whatsoever.” In retrospect, it’s like: “What the hell am I doing here?!” “Wow. “I don’t want to be too intense but I also want to tell them that I like them,” is how you feel at the beginning of a relationship. It’s like a full-fledged dance.

Always just go for it. That’s how it’s done. Your heart is shattered again, but the only way for them to see if you are capable of working with them is for you to just let your weirdness out and say, “This is what I can contribute to the role, which is my own special brand of weird.” Although it’s nerve-wracking, in the end, I believe it’s worth it. Yes, especially if you’re filming during a pandemic. Yes, absolutely.

There’s been a palpable uplift in spirit. Despite the fact that the globe is in turmoil, it has been a joy to be able to go to work today. When we did live shows in the last few years, it was a truly moving experience for me in terms of what I believe television can be. It has a heartbeat and lungs full of air.
