Whitney Cummings Bio

A native Texan and public relations director for Neiman Marcus at Mazza Gallerie, Patti Cummings is the daughter of an attorney and venture capitalist Eric Lynn Cummings, who was born on September 4, 1982, in Washington, DC. Cummings has two older brothers and one younger sister. Her family also includes a younger half-brother named Kevin and a younger sister named Ashley, who are both from the same family. Cummings was raised in a Roman Catholic family with his brother and sister.

Her parents divorced when she was five years old, and she was raised by her grandmother until she was eighteen. During her interview, she disclosed that she was raised in a dysfunctional, alcoholic household with her mother and father. She went to live with her aunt in Virginia for a brief length of time when she was 12 years old, and she enjoyed it. In the year 2000, Cummings graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, where he got his undergraduate and graduate degrees in history.

Her high school experience included working as an intern at WRC-TV, which is owned by NBC and broadcasts from Washington, D.C. Originally from Washington, D.C., she received her acting training at the Studio Theater. After graduating from high school, Cummings continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication. For a period of time, she worked as a department store model in a variety of shopping malls throughout the surrounding area.

With a degree in Communications from the University of Michigan, she graduated with honors in 2004. Initially, she intended to pursue a career as a writer. Following graduation, Cummings traveled to Los Angeles, where he began working on the MTV sitcom Punk’d, which premiered in 2004. Her performance in the low-budget thriller EMR, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival the following year, earned her acclaim. Cummings began performing stand-up comedy in 2004 and has since gained a large following.

In 2007, she was named one of the top ten comics to watch in the coming year by the magazine Variety. The next year, she auditioned for the television show Last Comic Standing in San Francisco; however, she did not make it past the first round of the auditions. During 2008, she appeared as a co-star on The Tony Rock Project as well as in the romantic comedy Made of Honor, both of which were distributed by Universal Pictures.

The E! television series Chelsea Lately invited Cummings to be a regular roundtable guest in 2007, and he continued to do so until the show was canceled in 2014. In 2008, Entertainment Weekly named her as one of the country’s top 12 up-and-coming comics, and in 2009, she was named to the list again. Her appearances as a comedian roaster on the Comedy Central Roasts of Joan Rivers (2009), David Hasselhoff (2010), and Donald Trump (2011) are all notable examples (2011).

She made her television debut with the one-hour special Whitney Cummings: Money Shot, which aired on Comedy Central in August 2010. It was also her first appearance on a talk show. The show’s sixth season was promoted by a promotional tour that included Denis Leary and the Rescue Me Comedy Tour in 2010. Cummings was also a part of the Rescue Me Comedy Tour in 2010. Additionally, she co-starred with Timothy Leary on the sitcom Douchebags and Donuts in the 1990s.

Two of Cummings’ multi-camera, live-audience sitcoms, 2 Broke Girls (which she co-wrote and executive produced with Michael Patrick King) and Whitney, both of which were picked up by broadcast networks in 2011, were conceived by Michael Patrick King (which she starred in, executive produced, and created). Cummings acknowledges that Whitney, in which she played a semi-fictionalized version of herself, was not widely welcomed when it was first released, but she thinks that it was a valuable learning experience for her.

After two seasons on the air, the show was canceled in May 2013 due to low ratings. Cummings hosted a talk show on E! in 2012 called Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings, which was canceled after only 11 episodes due to low ratings. She was still working on the second season of Whitney at the time. Her subsequent remarks indicated that she was overworking herself at the time and that she was also battling with an eating disorder during this time period, in which she would binge eat followed by compulsive exercise.

It was in June of that year when Cummings’ second hour-long special, I Love You, premiered on Comedy Central. “I’m Your Girlfriend,” the title of her third hour-long special, which aired on HBO in 2016, was a tribute to her relationship with her boyfriend. Some reviews found it to be less amusing than her previous stand-up performances, while others found it to be even more amusing.

Cummings made her film debut earlier this year as a supporting character in the thriller Unforgettable, which also starred Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson and was released in April of this year. In the following month, the television show 2 Broke Girls was officially canceled after six seasons on the air. It was with The Female Brain (2017), an independent comedy film distributed by IFC Films in which she also acted and in which she made her directing debut, that she made her directing debut.

In 2017, Cummings also released her first book, titled I’m Fine…And Other Lies, which was published by Penguin Random House. The book, which was published in 2017, is a collection of vignettes about her life that is based on her own experiences. For ABC’s reboot of the comedy series Roseanne, Cummings served as one of the show’s key writers, an executive producer, and the show’s production manager, who was in control of the show’s day-to-day operations.

The sitcom was canceled after Roseanne Barr made a series of incendiary, racially charged remarks on her Twitter account, prompting Cummings to be sacked from his role on the show, which led to the show’s collapse. In the past, Cummings had contributed to the show. Can I Touch It?, her fourth hour-long Netflix special, launched on July 30, 2019, and is presently available to watch online via Netflix Instant Watch.

A robot that Cummings had custom-made to look just like her is featured in this special, which she pulls out at the conclusion of the program and introduces to the audience. Cummings premiered her first podcast, titled Good for You, on November 5, 2019, and it is now available for download on iTunes. Dan Levy, an actor, and producer, was the first person to pay her a visit.

Other than Benton Ray, Benton Ray’s former assistant and fellow comic, Good for You includes a varied range of guests, ranging from politicians and comedians to actors, journalists, and other celebrities and personalities. Cummings provides a chapter to Tim Ferriss’ book Tools of Titans, in which he offers advice to the reader.

It is impossible to list all of the comic influences that have influenced Cummings’ work, but she begins with Paul Reiser, who she describes as having “made this hysterical, fantastic comment on the most everyday things and opened it up to a humorous world.” Her parents are among her many sources of inspiration, but George Carlin stands out as someone. These included Dave Attell (“a legend now, although he’s still a little bit edgy”), Lenny Bruce, and Bill Hicks, among other performers and musicians.

It is impossible to list all of the comic influences that have influenced Cummings’ work, but she begins with Paul Reiser, who she describes as having “made this hysterical, fantastic comment on the most everyday things and opened it up to a humorous world.”  Her parents are among her many sources of inspiration, but George Carlin stands out as someone who has pushed her to “question everything,” according to her.  As he progressed through his career, Dave Attell (“a legend now, but he’s still extremely edgy”), Lenny Bruce, and Bill Hicks were among the artists who affected him.

D’Elia issued a statement to TMZ on Thursday in which he emphatically denied the accusations. In my professional existence, I am quite aware that I have said and done things that have hurt certain people, but I have never intentionally pursued any young females at any point in my career.” All of my interactions have been legal and consensual, and I have never met, much less exchanged inappropriate photographs with, any of the people who have posted disparaging remarks about me on the internet.

I was a young, naive man who allowed myself to become completely entangled in my way of life, which I regret to this day. It’s entirely my fault, I’m sorry. It belongs to me, and I am the one who owns it. This is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and I promise to be more diligent in the future.”

Whitney was a television series that aired on NBC for two seasons before being discontinued the next year. She appeared on the television show The Bachelorette, where she played Alex Miller, the boyfriend of Cummings’ character, who was a fictionalized version of her own role. Throughout the series, their three-year relationship played an important part, with D’Elia appearing in almost every episode of the show.
