Will Sharpe Bio

William Sharpe was born in London and moved to Tokyo when he was eight years old. He lived there until he was 18. His mother is from Japan. After he came back to the United Kingdom, he went to Winchester College to study. It was at Cambridge University that Sharpe learned about classics. He also ran Footlights Revue, which was a group of actors. For the 2008-2009 season of the Royal Shakespeare Company, he was a member of the company. This is what Sharpe did for a year at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He played a young Isaac Newton in a play called “The Tragedy of Thomas Hobbes.” He played the role of Yuki Reid in the BBC medical drama Casualty, and he did it well. It was made in 2009 by him and his friend Tom Kingsley. It was a short film called Cockroach. It was shown at the Prince Charles Cinema in London from November 2011 to December 2011. Black Pond was made by the two of them.

When he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer for the movie, he was also nominated for a second award. Probably the show that Sharpe is best known for is Flowers, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. It premiered on Channel 4 in 2016. Flowers is a dark comedy about mental health that stars Olivia Colman, Julian Barratt, Daniel Rigby, and Sophia Di Martino. The first series won a BAFTA TV Award for best-scripted comedy.

The second series, which aired in 2018, was widely praised by critics. Sharpe won a TV award in 2020 for his role as Rodney Yamaguchi in the BBC drama Giri/Haji. The Independent called it “one of the most riotously funny turns since Richard E Grant came out as Withnail.”  It’s his brother, Arthur Sharpe, who is a composer who has written music for movies like The Darkest Universe and Black Pond.

When Will Sharpe has type two bipolar disorder, things can get really bad. With actress Sophia Di Martino, Sharpe has two children who were born in 2019 and 2021, and they were born in 2019. Will Sharpe has only been surfing a few times, but he had a great time and learned a lot. He says: “So I’m not a surfer. I’m not very good at it, and I’ve only been to the beach twice.” Because being in a huge, loud, “other” force makes me calmer than when I’m on land. I just really liked it.”

In his work, Sharpe has made surreal, darkly funny sitcom Flowers for Channel 4 and magnetic performance as self-destructive, sarcastic Rodney in the BBC drama Giri/Haji, which won him a Bafta for best supporting actor in 2020. He sees a lot of similarities. There are some things that are similar when you come back to writing after surfing, he says. You have to do everything right, but you’re still at the mercy of a lot more powerful force than when you’re just writing. As for the fact that 95% of the time, you’re getting hit over the head with things.

When they do work for 5% of the time, it’s so exciting that you want to do it again right away. Sharpe has just caught a couple of big waves in his job. This is good news for him. Before that, he has written and directed a four-part drama called Landscapers for HBO and Sky. He has also written and directed other shows. In this movie, David Thewlis plays Susan and Christopher Edwards, a couple who were convicted of killing Susan’s parents 16 years ago and burying them in their Mansfield, Ohio, backyard.

There is then The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, which is a movie with Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy in it, which he wrote and directed. The movie is called The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. This book is also based on a true story. It tells the story of a British artist who became famous in the late 1800s for his whimsical, sometimes psychedelic drawings of cats. To say Sharpe is a one-of-a-kind and talented person would be understating how unique and empathic he is with these projects.

There are some signs that he has a lot of star power. Colman and Cumberbatch both chose him. So, why did Sharpe get hired by Colman? “Because I had a lot of fun working with Will on the flowers,” I said. In the movie, she says that as a director, I really liked the notes he gave me. He thinks Flowers are “complete” and “fully formed.” This is what the American director Paul Thomas Anderson said.

HG Wells is played by Nick Cave, who is a fan of Louis Wain’s work.  I think it’s great. As a person, Sharpe is more modest and reticent than you might think based on all of these raves. His face is partly hidden by a mop of tousled black hair that looks like a Beatles mop. “I’m not very social,” he says, over a cup of coffee in a cafe in east London.

“I think I am,” Sharpe says that part of his shyness comes from how he was raised. Until he was eight, most of his time was spent living in Tokyo. He and his family then moved to Surrey, where his father works for the Financial Conduct Authority. His father then got a new job. A mixed-race person, he says, “feels like a Brit when they’re at home and as a Brit in Japan.” When you go somewhere, you try to keep your feet on the ground.

For someone who isn’t very social, a career in performance might not seem like the best choice. That’s not all: When Sharpe was a child, he also liked Japanese sketch shows and Mr. Bean. He would become president of Footlights while he was in high school and play keyboard and guitar in bands. To get money to pay for his college, he went to London and tried to get a stand-up gig there.

Sharpe’s work as a director might be different because he’s seen things from a different angle. He isn’t the first person to say that his work has a hallucinatory feel to it. When Sharpe wrote The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, he and Simon Stephenson, the author of Paddington 2, worked together to write the book. It was based on a Stephenson story. This is a biopic that could have been a standard movie.

It turns out to be weird, more fun, but also very moving. It’s not a spoiler to say that Wain ended up broke and in a psychiatric hospital, but Sharpe’s film gives his life a sense of honor after he dies. “He has this extraordinary stamina, and he can always bring it.” It was easier to work with Cumberbatch than to herd Wain’s people. Sharpe: “When you film with cats, sometimes they make things happen that you didn’t expect.”

“And sometimes they act like cats and do what they want, and you just have to change.” His other big project, Landscapers, came about after the American director Alexander Payne dropped out of the project because of a conflict with his own work. For a typical true-crime movie, the bones of the story could have been used to make a movie about whether or not Susan’s parents were killed by the Edwardses.

How did they stay out in the open so long? Sharpe, on the other hand, wanted to go even deeper. There is a dream-like, fantastical element to how he tells the story. For example, Christopher and Susan Edwards spent a six-figure sum on Hollywood memorabilia. When they turned themselves in, they had handwritten notes from actor Gérard Depardieu in their possessions when they turned themselves in.

In both of these projects, the main characters are people who are hard to understand or who didn’t fit in as well as they could have. Why did I want to get to know these people? My goal was to try as hard as I could to get into their headspace. Sharpe doesn’t appear in Landscapers or The Electric Life of Louis Wain, but he thinks that switching between acting and directing is good for both. If you’ve recently ridden a bicycle, and you’re driving a car, you’ll have a better sense of how it feels for the other people around you, he says.

Sharpe isn’t sure what he’ll do next. They are having their second child any day now. When we meet in early November, his partner Sophia Di Martino, who played Loki, is due to give birth. That might keep him busy for some time. But he wants to act again and write something from scratch. Colman thinks that with Sharpe, we’re seeing the beginnings of a great creative person who is good at acting, writing, and directing, and is only in his 30s.

Colman says that “all of those things should make me hate him, which is very unfair.” As long as he shows up to play some kind of sport for England, I wouldn’t be surprised. And it will be a sport he hasn’t even tried before. As we near the end of the year in India, we want to ask you for a small favor. Our journalism has earned your trust this year, and we want to thank you for that.

We also want to invite you to join the more than 1 million people in 180 countries who have recently given us money, which keeps us open to everyone and fiercely independent. In 2021, this money will help keep an investigation going into offshore wealth, spyware, sexual harassment, labor abuse, environmental plunder, crony coronavirus contracts, and Big Tech going for a long time. The new year, like all new years, should bring with it a cautious sense of optimism.

In 2022, there will be a flurry of elections, many economic challenges, the next round in the fight against the pandemic, and a World Cup. If we don’t have shareholders or billionaire owners, we can set our own agenda and provide trustworthy journalism that isn’t influenced by commercial or political interests. This is a good thing because it will help stop the spread of misinformation.

When it’s never been more important, we can look into and question everything without fear or favor. People can read the Guardian’s journalism, even if they can’t afford to pay for it. This is different from many other media organizations.

The reason we do this is that we believe that everyone should be able to get the same information. Many more people can keep track of global events, understand how they affect people and their communities, and be inspired to do something about it. The best time to join us is now. Every penny, big or small, helps us do good journalism and keep us going in the future.
