In his three F1 careers, Alexander Wurz raced for Benetton, McLaren, and Williams during the years 1997 and 2007. Both Honda (2008) and Brawn (2009) invited him to a test session. In his first full season of Formula One competition in 1998 with Benetton, Wurz achieved his greatest season performance to date, placing eighth in the Drivers’ World Championship. During this season, Wurz had a suspension breakdown during the Monaco Grand Prix, resulting in a catastrophic accident when he slammed into the Nouvelle Chicane barrier at high speed upon leaving the tunnel.

After the accident, Wurz was able to continue racing in the next event without any major setbacks. While testing the McLaren at Paul Ricard, he wrecked it. During his career, Wurz won his class in the 1996 and 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours races despite not racing in Formula One.
