Andrew Christopher Denton (born May 4, 1960) is an Australian TV producer, comedian, Gold Logie nominee, and former radio broadcaster best known for his roles as host of the ABC’s monthly interview programme Enough Rope and the ABC game show Randling. His comedic timing and skillful questioning have made him a household name. In addition, he is the one who brought The Chaser to the attention of Australians. Kit Denton, a writer and the author of the book The Breaker about the Australian soldier Breaker Morant, is Denton’s father. He attended Roseville Primary School in Sydney and then transferred to Blue Mountains Grammar School in Wentworth Falls.
He enrolled in Perth, Australia’s Guildford Grammar School in 1977. After that, he went to Bathurst, where he earned a BA in Communications from Mitchell College of Advanced Education (MCAE; now Charles Sturt University). He was active with 2MCE, the college radio station. When Denton first entered the media industry, he was working as a writer for Australian radio host Doug Mulray on Triple M. He was one of the first supporters of the Sydney Theatresports scene.Denton was a morning show presenter on Triple M in Sydney, Australia. During his tenure at Triple M, he participated in the reality show House From Hell, in which competitors were locked in a home and subjected to various cruel and unusual punishments. Denton has expressed remorse for his participation in the show, citing the intolerable amount of human influence, in radio interviews.
