If yes, so you came to the right place. We have shared the fanmail above. This article will give you all the information you need about Atlanta Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons are an NFL franchise situated in Georgia’s capital city. They play in the National Football League (NFL) and are a part of the NFC South division (NFL). The Falcons entered the NFL in 1965 as an expansion club when the NFL granted then-owner Rankin Smith a franchise to deter him from joining the rival American Football League (AFL) (AFL). Instead, the AFL chose to award a franchise to the city of Miami, Florida (the Miami Dolphins). In their 45 years of existence, the Falcons have collected a record of 298–402–6 including division titles in 1980, 1998, 2004, and 2010. That is Super Bowl XXXIII and Super Bowl LI, their two Super Bowl appearances. It was the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI, both games that they would ultimately lose.

Atlantans thought it was time to pursue professional football after Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was completed. One company, which had promoted NFL exhibition games in Atlanta without the involvement of the NFL, petitioned for franchises in both the NFL and the American Football League. On the other hand, another firm said it has put down a deposit on an AFL franchise. Despite the chaos, a group of local businessmen was able to negotiate and get an American Football League franchise on June 7, 1965, in exchange for exclusive stadium rights from municipal authorities.

Commissioner Pete Rozelle of the NFL, who had been dragging his feet in Atlanta until the AFL showed interest, jumped on the next flight to the city to try to stop the AFL from staking a claim to Atlanta. He made it such that the city had to choose one of the leagues. The city had decided on Rankin Smith and the NFL by June 30. In a twist of fate, the Miami Dolphins rose to prominence in professional football and eventually won two Super Bowl titles.
