British keyboardist Brian Albert Gordon Auger (born July 18, 1939) plays the Hammond organ in jazz and rock music. Auger has collaborated with a wide variety of artists, including Rod Stewart, Tony Williams, Jimi Hendrix,[2] John McLaughlin, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Eric Burdon. Among the genres, he drew from for his sound was jazz, early British pop, R&B, soul, and rock. A Grammy Award nomination has been submitted for him. When The Yardbirds recorded “For Your Love” in 1965, Auger was there to provide session guitar. Auger, Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll, Vic Briggs, and Rod Stewart founded The Steampacket in the same year.  No official recordings were ever produced by the band because of contractual issues, but nine songs were put down in late 1965 for promotional purposes and issued as an LP in France on the BYG label in 1970.

Repertoire Records acquired these recordings from Charly Records and put them out on CD in 1990 with 12 live songs from Live at the Birmingham Town Hall, February 2, 1964. Once Stewart quit the band in early 1966, they quickly disbanded. Afterward, he collaborated with Driscoll and the band Trinity to record a rendition of David Ackles’ “Road to Cairo” and Bob Dylan’s “This Wheel’s on Fire,” both of which can be found on Dylan Covered. The latter song peaked at number five on the UK pop charts. The American premiere of Auger, Driscoll, and Trinity’s 3313 Revolutions Per Monkee took place on the NBC special in 1969.
