David Khari Webber Chappelle is an American actor and stand-up comedian. His satirical comedic sketch series Chappelle’s Show (2003–2006), in which he starred until he left in the midst of the third season of production, is his most well-known work. Following a break, Chappelle resumed touring the country doing stand-up comedy.  By 2006, Chappelle had been dubbed the “comic genius of America” by Esquire, and in 2013, a Billboard writer referred to him as “the finest.” He was voted No. 9 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time” in 2017.
