Horror and fantasy filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (born October 9, 1964, in Guadalajara, Mexico) is a Mexican director, screenwriter, and producer noted for his ability to infuse his films with nuanced emotion and rich themes.

In high school, he started creating short films, and he continued his education in filmmaking at the Universidad of Guadalajara.
