Born on December 9, 1950, Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading, CBE is a Kittitian-born, English singer-songwriter and guitarist. Armatrading has been nominated for a Grammy three times and for a BRIT award as best female artist twice. In 1996, she was honored with the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song Collection.
