Jodie Comer Bio

Jodie Comer is a British actress who was born in Liverpool, England. She is best known for her role as Rey’s mother in Star Dancing (2004). Instead, she went to the studio with her mother and grandmother to watch it live. Stephen Graham was so impressed by her talent while filming their scenes in Good Cop (2012) that he called her. She is a supporter of Tyred, a charity that promotes road safety.

In 2019, at the age of 26, she became the youngest Emmy winner in the category of “Best Actress in a Drama Series,” breaking the record held by Lindsay Wagner, who was 28 at the time. Zendaya, who won the Emmy at the age of 24, broke the record one year later.

She nearly choked to death while filming the Killing Eve (2018) episode Killing Eve: Wide Awake (2019). Her scene partner, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, assumed she was making it up for the sake of the scene. Fortunately, a medic arrived in time to save the day. She later stated in an interview that the incident had ruined her pasta.

She hasn’t had any formal acting training. Quotes from People (40) My first professional audition was in Manchester for a radio play. That was the first audition I had. It was my first paid job, which I believe was around £150, and I thought it was a fortune. It will be very different from ‘The White Queen.

‘ Rather than being a sequel, I believe ‘The White Princess’ is a stand-alone show. It’s so nice to start a new job and know you’ve previously worked with someone. When it comes to acting, you simply have to tell the truth at all times. You must put yourself to the test. I believe that being scared is a good thing.

I’m especially excited to be a part of ‘Rillington Place,’ because I’ve never had a job where I felt so much responsibility and had to handle something with such delicacy because this storey and these people were real. I’m not sure if it’s because of how I was raised or because I spend so much time away that I value being at home so much.

I admire characters who can enrage an audience – it shows that you’ve done your job well. When it comes to dramas, I always believe that the more that is left to the audience’s imagination, the better. In drama, I believe you don’t need to be fed everything. Even though you want to know what happened and see it when you’re watching, I think it’s much more powerful to see the consequences of those actions.

When my character is more glamorous, I become more conscious of my appearance. I simply enjoy making people laugh. When I was younger, I was a natural drama queen. I was always doing impersonations and flaunting my abilities. Going into filming without brushing your hair, letting your toenails chip, and drawing darker circles under your eyes is refreshing.

I’m a firm believer in fate, and it’s been working out so far. When you get scripts and you enjoy reading them, you know you’re working on a good project. I unfollowed Snapchat. I’d had enough… I believe I spent far too much time on it. You must be self-assured enough to get up and go to 30 meetings, only to be told no every time, and not take it personally. I’d like to do something that requires me to completely transform myself.

Or something very physical that would put my discipline to the test. Something I’d have to practise for. Because the costumes are so different, I feel like it’s so easy to transform yourself into someone else when performing in a period drama. Liverpudlians have a fantastic sense of humour and are extremely loyal and warm. When I’m not filming, I like to go back and catch up with all of my family and friends.

We’re a close-knit family. When you put on the costumes for a period drama, you immediately feel like a different person – the clothes cause you to stand differently, change your posture, and walk differently. You’ll need a lot of stamina because you’ll spend two hours doing your hair and makeup, followed by another hour removing it all. The women in ‘The White Princess’ are the ones who drive the plot and keep everything together. It’s undeniably a world of female empowerment.

I believe that throughout history, we have seen a false representation of women. The men are always the heirs and, supposedly, on their own merit, which I don’t believe is true. In my career, a lot of things have happened by chance. I grew up watching Keira Knightley movies nonstop and have always admired period dramas and everything that goes into them. Emotions fascinate me, and being able to express myself through acting fascinates me even more.

That’s fantastic. And I believe that in everyday life, you are constantly attempting to suppress your emotions. For example, if you’re sad, you don’t want to show it to others. I don’t believe that acting talent or instinct can be taught. I’d always wanted to do costume drama, but period pieces can be quite wooden. People suddenly lose their sense of humour or personalities simply because they were born in the 1400s.

My mother used to tell me, ‘What is meant for you will not pass you by,’ and she was right. If I didn’t get something, it was because it wasn’t meant for me. When I was in local theatre, I used to sing but gave it up to focus on dance.
