However, he returned to the Bulls in March 1995 and guided them to three additional championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998 in addition to a then-record 72 regular season victories in the 1995–96 NBA season.  He took his second retirement in January 1999 but played in the NBA again for two more seasons, 2001–2003, this time with the Washington Wizards. He was chosen to play on the American national team throughout his professional career. While there, he was unbeaten and won four gold medals in the 1984 Summer Olympics, 1992 Tournament of the Americas, and 1993 Summer Olympics.
