Nikki Sixx Bio

Sixx was the founder and bass player in Motley Crue’s heavy metal band. He has also written numerous autobiographies and hosted the radio program ‘Sixx Sense. Nikki Sixx was conceived in San Jose, California on December 11, 1958. Sixx, who had previously been a bassist with several bands in Los Angeles before forming Motley Crue along with drummer Tommy Lee. Dr. Feelgood, their most successful album, remained at the top of the charts for 114 consecutive weeks. The group’s autobiography The Dirt became a New York Times bestseller and wSixx joined Sister shortly after moving to Los Angeles. Sixx and Lizzie Grey, his bandmate, formed London in 1978 after they were fired from Sister. Sixx and Lizzie recorded several demos.


Sixx then left to start his own heavy metal band. Sixx, along with guitarist Mick Mars, and drummer TSixx continued to pursue his own projects. He partnered with Covenant House in 2005 to create the Running Wild in the Night program, which provides services to homeless and runaway teenagers. He published The Heroin Diaries: One Year in the Life Of A Shattered Rock Star two years later. Through an advertisement in the local newspaper, Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee founded Motley Crue. Their debut album, Too Fast For Love, was released on their own Leather Records label in November 1981. They re-released the album after signing with Elektra Records. Feelgood was released in 1989. This was their best-selling album, which remained on the charts for 114 consecutive weeks. Stevo Bruno, their producer, joined them in the studio to record Here Come the Brides. On November 14, 2002, the Brides opened for Taproot and Mudvayne at the Ventura Theatre in California.  The group signed a deal with Sanctuary Records in 2004.

Here Come the Brides debuted at number 92 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 13,000 copies. Sixx announced on October 25, 2004, that the group would be going on hiatus while Sixx reunited for a reunion tour with Motley Crue. Sixx, who was previously known as Sixx. A.M., formed the group in 2006 to record the audio accompaniment to his autobiography The Heroin Diaries.
