 Bio

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are a Double-A South Minor League Baseball team and the Miami Marlins’ Double-A affiliate. They are based in Pensacola, Florida, and play their home games at Adanac Stadium.South Carolina (1959-1961), Savannah, Georgia (1962), Lynchburg, Virginia (1963-1965), and Evansville, Indiana (1966-1968), before moving to Columbus, Georgia, in 1969 to play at the Golden Park. From 1970 to 1988, the team was known as the Columbus Astros before becoming an affiliate of the Houston Astros. Following the 1988 season, the team’s new owner, Steve Bryant, held a competition among abbonament holders to rename the team, and as a result, the team became the Columbus Mudcats in 1989. Bryant moved the club to Zebulon, North Carolina, in 1991, and they became the Carolina Mudcats. At Zebulon, the team has played at Five County Stadium and won Southern League championships in 1995 and 2003.

Quint Studer, owner of the independent baseball team Pensacola Pelicans, purchased the Mudcats in 2010 through a complicated series of mergers and acquisitions aimed at bringing Double-A baseball to Pensacola. In the first place, he sold the Pelicans to a group in Amarillo, Texas, where they became the Amarillo Sox in 2011. JC Evers, the Pelicans’ general manager, has provided the success that would have demonstrated Pensacola as a viable minor league city. As a result, Studer has acquired the Carolina Mudcats franchise. However, in order to complete this acquisition, the Kinston Indians had to relocate to Zebulon, where they adopted the name and trademark Carolina Mudcats. Furthermore, because Pensacola is located within the territory of the Mobile Bay Bears, Studer has paid a stipend to that team. The arrangements cost a total of $ 2 million.
